It's sold as parental monitoring software. The marketing shows a concerned mother, a teenage daughter, a map with a little pin showing her location. Safe, reassuring.
The actual customer base is primarily abusive partners. The app hides from the victim's home screen. It transmits location, messages, photos, call logs, and keystrokes to whoever installed it. The victim doesn't know it's there.
